Head injuries

Head injury  frequently occur by accident, fall from hight and violence.A injury can damage different parts of the head; skull, brain, meninges and the soft tissues outside the skull. For all head injuries it is very important that the person keep still and remain calm.

Signs of serious head injury:

  • Unconscious
  • Unconscious more than five minutes after the injury occurred
  • Falling consciousness after waking from unconscious state
  • Seizures (patient is unconscious and shaking)
  • Paralysis (reduced mobility in legs and / or arms.
First aid

If the person is unconscious, you must ensure free airways and a good breath.
Keep the person calm. You can do this best by be calm yourself!
Keep patient warm.
Any major bleeding must be stopped or reduced.
