Eye injuries

Eye damage is an injury to the eyeball. Causes of eye damage can be that an object hits the eye, corrosive liquids or glowing/warm substances, radiation damage or burns.

Minor injuries, such as metal shavings on the eye, are treated by an ophthalmologist.

Contact the emergency room for referral and help. For all injuries with foreign bodies on the eye – debris – rinse the eye.
An injured eye must be treated with care.
For all injuries, it is important to protect the eye and ensure that the person receives treatment.
