CPR on adult

If the person is not breathing normally, start cardiopulmonary resuscitation. We shorten “cardiopulmonary resuscitation” with CPR.

30/2

30 chest compressions and 2 breaths.

30 chest compressions
  • Sit with your knees against the person’s chest.
  • lace your hands on top of each other, in the middle of the person’s chest.
  • Give 30 chest compressions and release between each time.

The pace should be approx. 100 per minute. It’s pretty fast, count out loud. If you talk to emergency 113 they can help you keep the right pace.

2 breaths

Squeeze the nose and cover the entire person’s mouth with your mouth.

Make two breaths.

When the airway is clear, it is not needed to use much force to get air into the person’s lungs. You should see that the chest rises.

If you have a breathing mask in the first aid kit, use it.

Continue with 30 chest compressions, then 2 breaths. You must continue with this until the ambulance personnel take over. Emergency 113 will tell you when the ambulance will arrive and guide you at all times.
